Press Release - September 9, 2005

'Breathe Easier' Featured at Los Angeles County Fair

For Immediate Release

SACRAMENTO — From September 9 through October 2, 2005, the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) will be promoting clean air at the L.A. County Fair as part of its Help California Breathe Easier campaign. The campaign promotes the retirement and repair of high-polluting vehicles that fail the Smog Check.

BAR's Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) pays motorists $1,000 to turn in their high-polluting vehicle and have it crushed, so that it is permanently taken off the road. Consumers can also receive up to $500 toward smog-related repairs to have their vehicle pass the Smog Check.

Help California Breathe Easier is a public awareness campaign that was launched by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this year to help reduce air pollution in California.
