Press Release - September 30, 2005

Pacoima Beautiful Will Breathe Easier at Annual Family Day

For Immediate Release

SACRAMENTO - On October 1, 2005, the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) will be promoting clean air at Pacoima Beautiful's Annual Family Day as part of its Help California Breathe Easier campaign. The campaign promotes the retirement and repair of high-polluting vehicles that fail Smog Check in order to clean up California's air.

BAR's Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) pays qualified motorists $1,000 to get rid of their high-polluting vehicle. Owners can also receive up to $500 toward smog-related repairs to have their vehicle pass Smog Check.

Help California Breathe Easier is a public awareness campaign that was launched by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this year to help reduce air pollution, which numerous studies have concluded leads to negative health effects, especially with regards to children.
